The holidays are a magical time of year that you naturally want to share with family and friends. If you're the type of person that welcomes hosting duties with open arms, then you'll likely have lots of visitors coming in and out of your home in the next few weeks for parties, gift exchanges, and sprawling feasts.

While all of this extra traffic is wonderful for your social life, it can wreak havoc on your beloved Kincaid furniture or other expensive pieces. That's because get-togethers of any size expose your furniture to a variety of risks, ranging from carelessly handled red wine to the sticky fingers of unsupervised children.

But with a bit of foresight and preparation, you can protect your precious sofas, tables, and chairs from holiday harm. Here's how to do it:
  • If possible, remove your best pieces from the main party area and temporarily place them in a different room
  • Use protective slipcovers on remaining items to guard against food and drink spills
  • Designate certain rooms as "off limits," and be sure to enforce the policy during the party
  • Place candles and holiday lights well away from furniture and drapes to reduce the risk of fire
  • Make sure plenty of napkins, coasters, and trays are available so guests don't put their plates and glasses directly on sensitive surfaces
With all the planning and effort that already goes into prepping for a holiday shindig, the last thing you want to do is add more work to the equation. But with Kincaid and Ashley furniture prices being what they are, it's better to be safe than sorry. Follow the above tips and enjoy your party in peace knowing that your furniture is well protected!
