Who doesn't love the beach? The mere thought of a long stretch of golden sand, the soothing sound of the waves, and all that fresh air is enough to melt away your stress and infuse your entire being with peace and tranquility.

Fortunately, you don't have to spend millions of dollars on exclusive real estate in order to get a taste of beachfront living. Instead, you can bring the light, airy, casual feel of an ocean front cottage to your home with the addition of some nautical-inspired Broyhill furniture and accessories. Here are a few tips to help you "go coastal" as you create a beach themed room:
  • Fill the space with bright and cheerful colors. Your main color palette should consist of hues that can be found in abundance at the beach, including blues, greens, whites, tans, and yellows. Use these shades liberally in your paint scheme and decorative accents.
  • Stick to light-colored woods and natural textures. Aim for the well-worn look of driftwood by selecting light colors for your furnishings. The washed pine found in our Vaughan Bassett Cottage Collection or the weathered oak featured in some of our Glen Cove pieces are perfect examples of this.
  • Tie the room together with plenty of nautical accessories. To complete the beach look, decorate the room with nautical accessories. Some items to consider include seashells, starfish, porthole mirrors, a ship steering wheel clock for the wall, telescopes, compasses, globes, lighthouses, tropical fish prints, and of course a sound machine to recreate those waves.

These tips will put you well on the way to bringing the beach to your home regardless of where you live. We also encourage you to add your own ideas and touches as desired, and to shop HomeLivingFurniture.com for big savings on all the new furniture you need to go coastal.
