A place for everything and everything in its place. If only it were that easy. For some of us, organization comes easily, but for many others the tasks pile up until they are simply overwhelming. Take back your sanity with these eight tips. The good news is it is not going to take as long as you think.

Pick one room to tackle at a time.
If you look at the house as a whole, you will run for the hills. Every big job can be broken down into manageable parts. Try starting off with your bedroom so that you have a nice sanctuary to retreat to when your day is done. Cleaning out the closets and the dressers can be done in a single afternoon.

Block out reasonable time frames for getting the task done.
If you have to, set a timer but dont go overboard. You dont want to burn yourself out. Play some music and think of it as exercise. We always feel better after a good workout! Get those endorphins flowing and get your home in order.

If in doubt, throw it out.
Now I know some of us are sentimental, but we need to be reasonable. Be as objective as you can and keep only the most special mementos. Chances are if you havent worn it or looked at it in over six months, you may not need it.

Ask for help.
If you know that you cannot be objective, ask a friend or loved one for their valued opinion. They may be able to convince you to get rid of the pipe-cleaner ring your first boyfriend gave you (or was it your third?)

Take the trash to the curb right away!
Dont spend too much time lingering or you may just be cramming all that stuff back into the closet. Believe me, it is the last thing you want to do. You will just be having the same fretful conversation with yourself all over again in six months.

Research charities that pick up items for free.
Charities like the Salvation Army or Purple Heart will come take stuff off of your hands. There is nothing like spreading a little good will to make a person feel good. Maybe you have a friend who is down on their luck? However you choose to do it, you must make every effort to clear your home of clutter.

If you have the time sell it.
Perhaps you need a little extra cash? Who doesnt? There are many ways to do go about this. You could have a good old-fashioned garage sale or you could sell your things online. I cannot stress this enough, the MOST important thing is getting rid of things that are crowding your space. Home is where the heart is lets not make it where all the junk goes to live.
However, every home needs attractive and effective organization solutions. Let Home Living Furniture help you organize your essentials and your sentimental items.
